Shops and commercial establishments located in residential areas across namma Bengaluru will be forced to down their shutters.
In fact, the BBMP had come under the court scanner after a public interest litigation was filed by civic groups challenging Bangalore Development Authority’s ( BDA) Draft Revised Master Plan (RMP) – 2015 that allowed commercial use of residential areas via a land use category christened as ‘mixed residential area’.
The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) will now shut down commercial establishments in residential areas that do not have trade licenses.
According to Deputy Chief Minister Parameshwara, the Government is taking the issue seriously and have ordered the BBMP officials to close all commercial establishments that are violating the zonal regulations. The Government is in a lookout for the officers who have given licenses to unauthorized shop-owners in the past years and who have not complied with the zonal regulations.
The Indiranagar residents are angry as the shut down is happening in Sadashivanagar and not in other places.
